Report for Year 2013 - 2014

Technical Training & Emerging Labor Market in Middle East

Reports indicate that by the end of 2015, huge demands of semi-skilled workers /technicians will be generated in Middle East. Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE are embarking upon mega infrastructure projects. Presently, we mostly meet non-skilled demands, leaving better jobs to other countries. FTEHRD has identified 19 semi-skilled trades where large demands are foreseen in coming years.
FTHERD, in next two years, plans to train 200 skilled workers in these fields through JVs with following reputed organizations. All necessary coordination has been completed.

  • TEVTA
  • PITAC
  • NLC Training Center Dina.
  • Private Business Concerns

All fees of the trainees will be paid by FTHERD directly to the Training Institute so as to ensure transparency. This will be Qarz-e-Hasna, with beneficiaries asked to return it in installments on being employed. This will help FTEHRD circulate funds and benefit more people in the long run.

Unlike many high sounding schemes, above is an effective and practical way of poverty reduction. Persons placed abroad will not only pay back to country but also become power wagons to pull their respective families from poverty. The donations will be re-cycled because of Qarz-e-Hasna factor.

FTEHRD in its AGM 2014 approved the above plan / concept. Presently efforts are in hand to secure donations.

Stipend to Deserving Youth

This has been an ongoing activity where philanthropists are requested on individual basis to support deserving children for their technical training and subsequent placement abroad. Since 2008 over a hundred poor students have been helped by FTEHRD. This is in addition to IT Trainings under NITE.

Nursing Training Programme--Signing JV with Unitek, California.

Efforts in this regard had started in 2012.After many delays, JV is likely to be signed between Unitek, college of Nursing California, USA and Pal group. The role of FTEHRD In this project is of an advisor, with a provision that 10 % of seats will be for poor candidates sponsored by FTEHRD. There are many difficulties in implementation because of differences in teaching and grading systems of two countries. However, we are determined to overcome these because its benefits for the lower middle class of our country are colossal.

Conclusion

  • Rising unemployment in the country is leading to adverse effects, ranging from abstract poverty to terrorist activities. Unfortunately our education system is too generalized. It is not designed to benefit from the great potential existing today in various international labour markets
  • FTEHRD planes to promote objective / market oriented technical trainings so that larger number of youth can be placed abroad. With the experience gained in past six years, it is hoped that much better results will be achieved in future.
  • So far the activities were managed thru individual donations. However the scope of future initiatives is too large. FTEHRD, therefore seek help and donations from government / corporate sector to meet these goals. Whereas our efforts in last six years have laid the foundation, the required financial support can put all these projects on ground.
